After listening to physicians and other clinicians, ProMedica is extending dates of iCare implementations at several hospitals through early 2014.
At ProMedica Flower Hospital (FH), nurses are scheduled to begin using computerized provider order entry (CPOE) on Tues., July 17, and physicians will follow a week later, according to Ken Armstrong, senior vice president of information technology and informatics.
ProMedica Toledo Hospital (TH), which is scheduled to go live with iCare surgery and anesthesia applications Tues., Aug. 7, will begin phasing in CPOE in November. CPOE will be implemented by department over roughly four months.
ProMedica iCare will improve both quality and safety by reducing variation in care and consistently implementing best practices. It uses secure, accurate, seamless, and integrated technology across the system.
So far, there have been 27 iCare go live events completed at ProMedica acute care facilities and 52 applications implemented. All hospitals now have implemented the iCare pharmacy application.
ProMedica Wildwood Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital opened last year with iCare in place. ProMedica Bay Park Hospital only has the Emergency Center go live remaining in November. And FH started using surgery and anesthesia applications in April.
There are 24 iCare events remaining through April 2014. ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital and ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital are slated as the last acute care facilities to complete implementation.
At ProMedica St. Luke’s Hospital, remaining iCare go lives will begin this year and finish next year. Events are scheduled to be completed next year at ProMedica Bixby and Herrick Hospitals. Emergency Center go lives also are scheduled for early next year at FH and TH.
